Gastronomy, 2019

Themroc book, heir to a restaurant legend. A picture album of pleasure, passion, and poetry. The Themroc on Berlin’s Torstraße was a trendy restaurant of the Mitte Bohemian scene. From Wednesdays to Sundays, old and young, rich and poor, but above all the art of living were guests here. After more than 10 years, it was time to call it a day, but not before celebrating once more.

Typography

Stubborn, imperfect, contradictory, and yet solidly functional and majestically elegant. The two fonts reflect the Themrocs field of tension.

Colour

The orange-green striped linen cover is modelled on the shade, which in summer protected guests from heatstroke and enticed passers-by to visit.

Dramaturgy

A strictly rhythmic distribution of content dominates the seemingly chaos.

The page dummy organizes which content is located where.

Image curation

The carefully curated world of images from over a decade of restaurant operation serves as a visual respite between menus.

Production

The change of paper between glossy art and haptic, open-pored makes the rhythm of the book perceptible.
